d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

I am offically a new D'anver momma. Sadly, due to incubator malfunction and my own noobie errors all my BBB eggs didnt make it and I was really crushed. I'll have to try for some more Porcelain eggs eventually.

Congrats on the new chicksters!

Oh, if you noticed in the last picture I posted of Carly's son, he apparently is beardless, or nearly so. Why on earth? All the possible sires, plus Carly, have very nice beards/muffs. I just today noticed this.

You might have a beard picker in the bunch. I put a group of hens togeather that all had beards and a week later only one did.

haha, that made it easy to tell who was doing it didnt it JJ.

Yes Cynthia, he's right though, some times just like egg eaters or what have you, you will get one that just loves a juicy ol beard to eat. I had a mille hen a few years ago that was horrible about it. She'd only eat the males though. Never could keep a good LOOKING male with her around, was always having to explain why they had bald throats. Watched her do it, they'd actually stick their necks out when she'd pick at it as if they enjoyed it... crazy things.

But since she croaked on me a couple years ago, I havent had any more problems. Could be what you have going on. If it came from just a single beared parent, it should have a beard, though a small one. If both were beared, it should be full and normal looking.

Cynthia- isn't that the one the phoenix hatched? Maybe she don't want him running around looking scruffy in public.
