That is awesome LauraLee congrats. That is a nice way to start a flock 1 boy and 5 girls....awesome indeed. Pics pics pics...share the little darlings with us. What have you named your new little man and his girls?

I had 22 eggs in the hatcher, 18 were from BBB midway through day 19 there were no pips and we lost power for 6 hours. I was pretty worried. Just starting into day 20 now and three have hatched and abunch more have pipped. It's pretty amazing how you can really pay attention to temps and humidity for 3 weeks and have bad hatches, then something like this can happen and it looks like it is going to be OK.

that's good JJ.

I've done some stupid stuff in my days, unplug incubators to use an outlet for my light to candle is my most common one, forget to plug it back in and the next day when I get in from work see that it's 70 in there, hurricane power outages for 12-24 hours too.
It doesnt bother them a bit, especially is they are late in the run. I've gone 24 hours without heat one way or the others God knows how many time and every stinkin one still hatch. Think it's more important in the first half of the incubation, body heat starts effecting them after that. That and I always have 100 eggs in a Hovabator, so they keep themselves warm to a degree.

The pyles are slow, may have you a few first of the week. Everythings getting to that slack time of year seems like, may not have you a dozen but should be 6-8 or so if you want them.

6 or 8 will work for now, Kinda running short on brooder room. Got another buff columbian question, If I take the F1 pullets back to bb red can I make some decent bb reds in a couple of years?

Aubrey, This is what you said about these chicks a few weeks back.

"(lavender, bet that middle one is a lavender silver quail bet I miss labled one) see the face patch"

I just noticed it tonight, been paying too much attention to the columbian ones.

That baby is too danged cute to live with you JJ...it wants to live here in Kentucky....it told me so. Send it man and make it snappybecause I want time to get it settled in before I go to Florida on June 2nd.

*runs for coop to tell the d'Anvers and coch'anvers there is a new recruit coming*

It doesn't show up real well in the picture but it has quail lacing, and kinda of a columbian thing going on in the hackle area and a white breast. Like you took a silver quail and colored all the black parts lavander.
