d'anver lovers, discuss the breed and post some pics!

That baby is too danged cute to live with you JJ...it wants to live here in Kentucky....it told me so. Send it man and make it snappybecause I want time to get it settled in before I go to Florida on June 2nd.

*runs for coop to tell the d'Anvers and coch'anvers there is a new recruit coming*
You say all my chickens want to live in Kentucky. I would think they would be alittle "clean cut " for your taste.

My buddy, Angus, with big Sunny and Shadow. Penny eventually showed up-the rest were on the other side of the pens. I'm a bit worried about him. His comb color was rather dark over the last few days, on and off, almost purplish. I hope he's okay. He's so good tempered for a D'Anver male and he's the boss now.

Here is Lucy, such a small sweet little thing. She is 10 weeks old now and getting lots of color.

It doesn't show up real well in the picture but it has quail lacing, and kinda of a columbian thing going on in the hackle area and a white breast. Like you took a silver quail and colored all the black parts lavander.

jj
yep, that's what it is. Took me years to finally get those going, still dont have any adults, just getting a few few random ones to pop out.
Congrats on my screw up JJ haha

and yes that method you mentioned on the columbian x bb red thing will work on the next cross.

JJ...only the oddities want to live here....really different ones or the real ugly/homely ones....I can even overlook their "clean cut" problem. It is just what the Menagerie' is for...the oddities and unloved/unwanted special kids. hahahahaha

Cyn...I sure hope Angus is okay. So far I have not noticed Rufus having any difficulty in this heat...my project and lavender d'Uccle girls were panting but Rufus and the porcelain girls were fine. The Delaweggers have been suffering in the heat though. :(

'twas not my fault Cheyenne did not latch the barrel bolt. She said "Mom, they are babies, they should not have gotten that door open" I said "Daughter there are 40 of them in there to join forces...those are Hairy Legged Horde recruits, lest ye forget!" muahahahahahaha
Until we reinforced the door the babies would squish out any opening they could and explore making mama panic. Thankfully, my son checks on them everyday after school so they didn't get into trouble.

Can anyone help me with variety on these? Are any of them ???Ginger, ???BBRed
Is #2 Mille Fleur?
My little ones are beginning to feather out more so I'm hoping you can help me determine which variety some of them are.

photo 3 and 4 are the same to babies from a different angle

photo 5 This one was black up until this week

Aubrey is the one to answer this but I will give it a shot.1 and 5 look like quail pullets. #2 looks like it has too much lacing to be a millie could be a ginger red, but my guess is buff columbian... 3 and 4 look more like millies to me but if one has a black breast then male bb red.

I didn't have any quail eggs...so not quail. Hmm.
I do have Buff Columbian...so that would be picture 2.
#5 is black everywhere but on it's back...

These are really fat growing little chicks and are FAST! I moved the biggest to the floor pen today and several took short flights across the room!
