Gonna probably just image dump here as he grows. He’s our first roo :>

Here he is today at around 12 weeks. He’s already taller than half of my flock. The first is from today, second picture is a couple days ago.

Here he was a few weeks ago, between 8-10 weeks. I’m noticing since then that the pencilling is slowly being replaced with white. I’ve also noticed his tail is quite “full” in comparison to some DB Roos I’ve seen.

6 weeks, had his first dust bath. Realized he wasn’t a pullet at this point. Bamboozled by the feed store.

Above images fixed.

and 4-12 week misc photos- or as I like to call them, bonding time and mischief. He got to meet the hens around 5-6 weeks and forgets that he’s the size of a chicken nugget. He was promptly put in his place when they were integrated.

So far he’s demonstrating good behavior towards humans- has pecked once or twice if you pick him up before he notices you’re going to, gets a little enthusiastic about hand feeding and tries to eat the palm of your hand, but that’s it. He also loves hanging around your feet while you’re in the run.

Occasionally he tidbits for his pullet ladies and leads them to adequate resting spots in the run and will come running to investigate if one of them sounds upset. he’s beginning to test mount / climb on one or two of them, but doesn’t commit to it if they wriggle away from him. Still quite frightened of the older ladies though. 🤣
