8 months to egg laying maturity but the wait is worth the effort, took some coaxing with full spectrum grow lights on a timer at 3am & blending the feed gradually with layer feed, about 3 weeks later they laid their first eggs and have been on a steady path of 4 eggs a day from 9 hens ... great personality, friendly & petable :) not fazed by cold at all & their beautiful ornate feathers came in well thanks to a custom Non-GMO feed from the king of North Florida Chicken's, Mr.Charlie from Charlie's Chick's.

These girl's were a 2 year project in the making and my first go at raising Hens, I built the run to be predator proof top to bottom.

I researched all the breeds & knew Brahma's were for me, looking forward to the next 2 runs as I would like to have light & buff brahma's next.

That's a lovely set-up! 🩷 How will the girls get into the nesting area if the door is closed? (I'm confused because I don't see a latch, etc.) And where will they roost? You might want to place a short barrier across the front of the nest boxes to keep the nest bedding (and eggs!) from falling out.

But what a great coop/run!

some pics were from before they were old enough to lay eggs, there is a 2x6 on the face of the nesting box & 2 more 2x6's, 1 on each side from the back to the front of the Coop area :)

The door on the Coop was for later, was thinking of putting an automatic solar chicken door in the middle of that bigger door but I'm not sure they make one big enough for Brahama or at least a brahma rooster 🤷
