Dark Cornish

I see you are in NC. There is a very good breeder very close to you, RS Keith. I got some birds from him last year. He is probably your best bet to get a bird that resembles the picture.

If you look up Cornish on Feathersite poultry pages, they have pictures of hatchery Cornish. They will not look like your picture of what you want. The best bet from a hatchery would be Superior Farms, the breeding program is run my Danny Padgett and he raises and shows cornish, but still--the breeders are the best bet.

I hop you track down your little one! Good Luck!

Coyotemagic has the rest of my order. She posted two pics of the one that she thinks is the DC. Here is the other thread if anyone wants to help identify

And just to make it easier, here are the pics from the thread...

Coyotemagic: "It's the only one with yellow legs!"

That brown edging the black marks I see on the head fluff is worrying, but yellow legs is a great start! Usually the Dark Cornish chicks are just black lines and yellow fluff (sometimes with a brown tint to the fluff, but no solid brown).

I know I've got some baby pics, and I have a pen right about the same age of the chicks you have at home and some slightly older. About 8ish tonight I should be able to get something on here.

Could that be due to the fact that it is a hatchery chick and my not be totally true to color? Would it be that far off?? Either way I am going to trade with Coyotemagic so she can have her EE. If you have pics of the baby DC I would love to see what a true one looks like. Thanks!

Here we go, I hope I remember how to do this!
You can see some of the fine black line still on this one's head 2ish weeks old:

A little older:

This guy was born March 8th this year:

Young roo (new feathers coming in 'black'):

My experience has been that the Dark 'color' from the hatcheries is different. I think trading for the yellow leg is a good idea.
