I was told on here that my male is a split to white because of his white flight feathers then i read this about the dark pied....

"Dark pied offspring appear very similar to the India Blue, but white can be found on their wing primaries, and they carry the pied gene. If they are bred to whites, 100% of the offspring will be pied. "

So is dark pied and split to white the same thing? or would i need to know if the parents were pieds?

I have a white hen and wondered if i may get pieds with my pair.

Thanks for helping me understand.

without knowing the parents, hard to tell if dark pied or split white. You will know when you hatch some chicks from him and the white hen.

Dark pied and split to white is two different things. Any bird that is split to white will have white flight feather. A dark pied could show white on the flight feathers and maybe white on the throat patch these birds are split to white and pied. Some dark pieds will show no white these birds are split to pied only. Like Burt said the without knowing what the parents are the only way of knowing for sure is to breed the male to a white.
