What does it mean when a chicken has deep red skin in the vent area?

  2. A photo would be helpful, if you have it?
    Depends on breed.

    Is she laying?

    Has she been pecked?

    Any sign of pests?

    Other symptoms?

    ...and so on

Hi milkmaiden! I was wondering if I would see you today! [IMG]

Some of the chickens with the red area were laying, some were not.

I saw some little buggies on some of them, and not on others, so I dusted everyone.

I will try to check and see if the redness has gone away.

    thank you!
