If you get the poultry press there are some good breeders in there back in the classified..
Tim Bowles out of Ohio..
Dick Hortsman out of P.A.
Greg Chamness out of Illinois
Warren Carlow out of Rhode Island
Jeff out of N.Y. ( at nyreds.webs.com )
Tim, Dick, Greg, and Warren are all APA Judges and breed to standard and for that nice rich red mahogany color.
I have some of Dick Hortsman reds that I been crossing with Dennis Myers line of reds and I like them quite well..

You can try asking over in http://mattlh.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=redforum the form for the Rhode Island Red Club of America.
It depends on if you are looking for rose comb or single comb large fowl or bantam..

Like I said Pine Grove raises the Dark RIRs I posted earlier, he is in Lakeland Ga. You can PM him if you want but calling him may be faster. If you want is phone #, PM me and I send it to you.

I also want to clear up what you all are saying about chocolate birds, these do not carry the chocolate or dun genes, they're just products of years of good selective breeding to get the correct color, just wanted to make sure you all know that.

Mistyfeather and Stevin....I have to echo what RAREROO has said about Pine Grove. I have some birds out of his flock. What you see in the pictures is what you get. You might as well take advantage of William's 20 years of breeding, and start out right. He is a great guy to do business with.

this is awesome!!! thanx everyone
i will get hold of Pine Grove. and hopefully set something up w/him for this spring.
man o man this is gonna be a long winter.....!!

LOL I hear that, I'm holding out until spring for some eggs of a few rare breeds too. I may try to get some started birds from William if he has any, he doesn't live too far from me.

Not great pics, but here's a couple of my ladies.
