dark runny poop?

my 3 1/2 week old chick has dark runny poop all of the sudden...no change in feed?

whats going on?

They will have this type of poo, every once in a while. Its ok. Just watch it doesnt happen for several days.

When my ladies were little, I also noticed this.. and pretty much drove myself crazy trying to figure out what was wrong with them.

In the end, I discovered that it was stress related. I had taken them out to run around. That's when the yucky poo started. I put them back in their box, and checked on them. After about an hour all poo was back to normal.

What does/could it mean if it is extended for several days?

My wife will feed them steamed rice that seems to firm up the droppings.

well the chicken that was having the problem seem fine now...I added a little bit of yogurt to thier feed...not sure if thats what fixed it but they all seem ok now.
