Dark To Dark :(

I don't care for it either. I have just enough time in the afternoon to feed and water the 14 pens before dark. This time of year the word is "fly like the wind" before the sun goes down.

I am new with chickens have only had them about a month and a half. So I am still learning, I loved going out before they went to roost and then being there to watch and help them settle in on the roost without to much pecking. Now its dark when I get home so I miss all that. I fill water and food in the mornings and have 2 spoiled dogs that want attention before I leave for work too. I keep telling my DH I need to just stay home.

But that idea doesn't seem like it's working.

I hate it! I miss spending time with my silkies. I only really get to spend time with them Friday-Sunday. Luckily, my daughter gets to see them and give them treats after school, so at least they still get some people time...even if it isn't with me

Yep, I miss mine too. I was home all summer recuperating from surgery and spent hours on end "bird watching".
Now it's drive home a little too fast so I can let them scratch around and eat some oatmeal before they get put up for the night.
I worry that they could have an injury and I wouldn't know it, or have symptoms of something that goes undetected.
It won't be long before it's even darker when I get home. Last night I put them to bed and saw an opposum in my shrubs just 15 min. later!
Very worried the run I'm building will be breached as I couldn't dig to put in buried hardware cloth (tree roots).
I miss my girls...
