Darkish Eggs

Hello all! I am incubating duck eggs and it is day 26. I noticed that two of my eggs have gotten darker in some areas. In one egg, all is dark with a white spot at the end and the other has splotches of darkness. This is clearly visible to the naked eye, not through candling. When I candled them they only were dark, as expected on day 26. Thank you very much!

Upon occasion I have also noticed this. Check to see if there is any odor to them. As long as they don't smell bad, they are probably OK. You can also try the float test.

It is probably the fully formed duckling that is causing the darkness. Are they a dark breed like cayugas or mallards? Good luck with your hatch!

They are pekin ducks and I did the water test and they all are fertile! I'll keep you posted!
