DARN COYOTES (chickens arent even in the coop yet)

Sorry for your loss...There is documentations of coyote/wolf hybreds online, and they are indeed larger..! There are also documented coyote/dog crosses...coydogs.Their are all kinds of mixed canines running around out there these days, a threat to mostly children and livestock....!

ShortCircuitRanch....And how would one know if the coyote is desperate or not..? Should a mother at a playground with young child not be concerned...? I have posted links here on BYC regarding coyote attacks on humans in other threads.Nothing was mentioned in any of the articles about the coyotes being desperate. It's just the nature of the beast, coyote are opportunist and prefer human attacks on children. A child is preceived as small, weak prey, like little backyard dogs and cats.Healthy, not desperate, coyotes are responsible for most of these attacks, they like easy targets.I've done the google searches, look in the achives here for links. This isn't something i came up with, or my opinion, these are documented facts posted online. This happens often enough for people to take note of and beware...

My neighbor came over crying one day last year. Seems a coyote had taken her mini pincher right off it's leash in her yard. She was so upset all she could say was "please kill it". A couple nights latter it met Mr. .17/223.

That may be so in the city areas were food is scarce and yes they are very dangerous BUT I am rural route we have no stores, Parks, paved roads and a million houses we are on 2 1/2 to 5 acre parcels NO ONE out here has anything under 2 1/2 because that's all the real estate company is allowed to sell and there is an abundance of cottontails and Jackrabbits, chipmunks, mice, rats, and ground squirrels there has been times here that coyotes have walked rite up to my faucet and drank while i sat on the porch WITH my Chihuahua (hes dwarfed and has a bad leg) sitting on the deck next to me and never made a move (that one wasn't desperate) then there are times where my dogs are in the yard and they come up and push the fence like i stated in my first post, coyotes may be dangerous but you must remember THEY were here in all these areas LONG before we were we move to there habitat build like crazy and drive there natural food source away and expect no backlash? there not bloodthirsty for human flesh
there looking for food, and i may very well shoot them when they come after my pets and livestock it doesnt mean i like to do it

Yes, man is moving further into wooded, wildlfe habitat. It is also true that coyotes are expanding there range and thriving very well. There is plenty of food for them to eat in the wild.A couple of coyotes even moved into Central Park in NYC...!
They like hunting near mankind because it can be easy pickings.Chickens, smaller dogs, even bigger dogs, cats, etc.I for one don't like them to close, if you let them drink water from your dripping faucet, and you and your small dog are sitting there watching, thats an invite. They wil become even less fearful of mankind and come a little closer...
There have been bloody attacks on humans, mostly children as i have mentioned and posted links to in other threads here. A young Canadian woman, with a promising singing career was attacked and killed by coyotes.I call that blood thristy..
I don't enjoy killing predators, but have disposed of many raccoons trying to get my hens.
Coyotes should be considered a threat, they attack and kill livestock. Its a fact that they have attacked children and killed at least one adult i know of..
To each his/her own, i wouldn't want them around my place, nor would i encourage them to come around. You may one day pay a price for letting coyote drink from your dripping water faucet. If you turn your back for a short time, it may take your small dog from you.I'm not going to debate this, i'm only stating the documented facts about coyotes as i've read online.Peace...

neither will i debate this I simply stated that they are not ALL bloodthirsty domestic dogs turn on owners and there has been more attacks on people by domestic dogs than coyotes and PIGS have killed more than dogs and coyotes combined yet we dont shoot dogs and pigs on site? its only because we feel no control on the wild predators and we shoot them for being "unpredictable" I do not LET them do it they did it once and I let them cuz my GF had never seen one in the wild I scare them off and they for the most part steer clear unless like I said they are desperate "hungry" that is when I will take it down when they come to my animals and livestock as a food source but for the most part they stay away I scared the one pushing the fence away and havent seen or even heard howling close to here in 4 days but if it returns i will put it down and I agree we should agree to disagree
