Oh that's so sweet!! My dogs are obsessed but I don't think it has anything to do with protecting them. I'm betting they just want a little chase around the yard followed by some taste testing.

Actually one of my dogs did open the gate and go into the chicken run but didn't harm the chickens, he just ate their food and poo while they all huddled together....but my second dog....

Thats a different story.

That dog looks like a herder to me. Our belgian shepard IS a herder and believe me. He keeps his birds exactly where he want's e'm to be.
He never attempts to touch them tho. That is unless they don't move fast enough for him. He will then poke 'em in the butt with his nose. lol
It's a good plan tho. He does not let'em near the road and he doesn't let 'em wander off too far into the woods.
