Darn its hard to be patient when waiting on eggs

I wanted to set the incubator as full as possible. I guess its the wrong time of year to get that many eggs. I did find a guy on here that said he could supply maybe 400 a week. I was going to get eggs from him but then he priced them higher to me here than he was selling them on eBay. When I asked about he he said sorry then adjusted the price as the same. I don't want to deal with anyone like that. So I will just get whatever quail lady can supply for now and look for another bloodline elsewhere. From the best I can tell quail Lady has birds second to none. I was going to get some from JJ but his ad says he sends them all, so no choice of color

GQF claims my incubator will hold 1244 eggs if bottom 2 shelves are double stacked but I was playing around with it and found out I can triple stack the lower 2 so it will hold bunches.

If I had an incubator like that i would try to order from several breeders and pick the one with the best eggs and birds and the best service/price.

Best price isn't always the best deal. I do need some others I know to start my own line.

I picked all this stuff up back in the summer for $200 off Craig's List. Then I have a few more GQF cabinets that I found there for around $150 each. Some of them needed a little work but all are in good shape. I need to have an incubator sale. What I need is a small incubator to to small lots of eggs.

Wow!
That's a lot of eggs! lol!

I have the havobator genisis 1588. I'm not sure how many it would hold, will have to look into that later.

I have a small yard, so I make do .. I love the quail though and just a few keeps me happy.

You'll have to keep us posted on how it goes!

My one little A & M is just starting to show a few specks of black. He's so cute!

I have spent high money (Lake Cumberland) and then low (ebay)...compared and contrasted sizes. Traded eggs (those are always a best bet, trade and share, best lines come from sharing with each other). Help each other and improve the lines all you can. I get sent eggs to grow out and then I improve the size and send those eggs back when the next generation is laying. This is done with the Marans club I am in. We improve egg shell color and pass it on so others can work on it as well. This is also so more blood can be added and the birds are not so inbred. There are some ebayers that have great birds and the size is what they say it is. Of course, like not every show bird creates show offspring, not every hefty coturnix produces hefty offspring BUT the genes in both cases should pass on if the breeding is done right. This is what makes breeding challenging but fun

Nice to meet you too, Alex is short for Alexandra also!

We are in crewe, va very close to farmville...

I was just in Punta Gorda, Fl visiting my mother who is ill... small world!

I have an older hovabator and it will 120 quail eggs/or 42 in the chicken/universal turner rails which is more than enough for me right now, if I ever went into business I want the sportsman or the (I'm drawing a blank on the name but he split off from GQF) 2 by 2. But anyway the hovabator has been pretty good to me (I need a new thermostat for $20) for 10 years. For the cost you could buy 5 or 6 brand new hovabators for the price of one Brand New Sportsman.

ETA: I'd be in hog heaven between all these bators you have and the pen you're building
