darn things ate all my flowers!!!!!

I let my 11 week old chicks free range (they are large). I always put food in the yard and they come back and eat every now and then. Well today I figured I would make them pick up their spillover. They pecked and scratched a little and then I saw them on my deck eating my flowers

. They NEVER bothered them before. They picked each and every little purple flower off my plants

. I chased them away but they kept coming back. I finally caved and gave them their food bowl, and they left my other plants alone. Little boogers

Mine totally destroyed my herb garden earlier this week.

A few weeks ago, mine got into the chard and ate it all to the ground. Then they scratched up the roots and made a dust bath out of it.

It's who they are. It's what they do.

Ours like to rearrange the pine needles we have around our trees all the time. Luckily they have found the garden yet, since it is on the other side of house, which they haven't discovered as of yet.

They will eventually eat everything. If you want flowers and gardens and nice neat beds keep the chickens locked up or locked out.
