Hello everyone! This is my second hatch & my first post. I've often checked this sight for advice but I can't find anything to help in this situation. My Ameraucan hen lays very elongated eggs & I have a hard time telling which end is up. 5 eggs were hers in the first batch & only 3 made it so this has possibly happened before. I candled the eggs with a flashlight this evening & 1 of the eggs is upside down. The air sac is clearly at the bottom. Should I toss it (tears), turn it (gulp), or leave it? It is day 14. We had our first experience with a leaky bad egg tonight also. Ewww!

It's in an egg turner. I can try to figure out how to post a pick but it is dark & I can see some veins. The white shells are easy but these green ones have me guessing. I don't want a stinker to ruin the bunch but I don't want to give up if there is a chance. I heard the chick may develop but won't be able to hatch.

I've never heard of a local egg having an air cell detach and then stabilize itself in the pointy end. Even when people accidentally keep eggs in the incubator upside down. There is a greater chance that the chick may be malpositioned though. Someone else thought they had the same problem but what they were seeing was the albumen in the pointy end and when they candled it looked a lot like the air cell. I'm not saying it's not possible. That's why a picture might be helpful. :)

The air sac didn't move, I put the egg in upside down. Her eggs are very long & skinny, it is so hard to tell which end is truly up :( I will post a pic when I get back home.
