Day 16 - Lost Power !!!!

We lost power for about 5 1/2 hours last night... Incubator eggs were on Day 16.

Will they be OK ???

Probably fine, at least as far as the power loss goes. By that time the chicks are producing a lot of heat themselves. Your incubator should be well insulated so it holds heat well. The egg is so dense it takes a long time for core temperature to drop. I doubt if heat loss is an issue.

You really don't need to turn the eggs after day 14. By now a membrane has formed around the chick so if it touches the inside of the shell it will not get stuck. Turning helps body parts form in the right spots. Those formed a while ago.

I would not recommend doing this for the fun of it, but I really doubt any harm was done.

thanks … now on Day 17 so day after tomorrow they come out of the egg turner and into total lockdown
