Day 16 of Incubation

We have a tiny hatchling! Out of 15 celadon coturnix eggs from Alchemist Farms,1 has hatched so far and 8 more have pipped!

Well that’s good . Once they’re to that stage they usually come out within the next hour

Good to know! This is our first quail hatch. We've hatched chickens and ducks before. And LOTS of baby geckos.

6 of 15 hatched. 2 my husband helped out of eggs this morning, so 8 of the chicks are out but I don't expect the 2 to last, one has a deformed leg and the other isn't really moving much. So I'm counting this as a 54% hatch rate

I would be careful of the straw. Make sure to check that no chicks get buried in it. They're very creative at finding ways to die at that age.

I left for work at 2 am and saw 3 chicks, could see 6 more pipped eggs..

Geckos? Those are so cute! Next time you want hatching eggs, let me know unless you're particularly attached to Alchemy. I'm not too far from Alchemy and might even be a slightly shorter drive for you. I charge less for my eggs.

5 hatched! One with the shell open and trying to roll out..can't really tell what's going on with the rest since they've been rolled all over.
