Day 17 candling, wanted to make sure i was seeing the correct things in terms of winners, duds, and quitters before i go on lock down tom. The first 8 are good to go i believe, the rest are quitters or duds, the only ones i might question are 13 and 15.

What are your thoughts?

Are you sure you're on day 17 of incubation? Were they all put into the incubator at the same time? Need help here ....

:bow @Pyxis @sylviethecochin @Texas Kiki @WVduckchick :hugs Thank you in advance for help here. I'm thinking only 3, 7, 8 look "right" .... Hang in there for those with experience peep in.
They were all put in at the same time, however in this scenario I has a surplus of eggs, laid on different days, and picked the best looking ones to go in. They usually sit in a basket on my counter for a few days, not sure if that would cause a few to be more advanced then others. Only my second incubation attempt lol

The first few pictures...are you seeing any movement or veining?

Do you have at least one calibrated thermometer in your bator?

3, 7, and 8 (this one might have stopped but it’s worth to keep) look to be where they should be at day 17, A couple look to have blood rings, a few other look either to be not on day 17 or quitters, if you see movement keep but if not I wouldn’t keep.

I think all your duds are duds. And some of your winners are also duds. But I'm fine keeping them in till hatch time and giving them a little more time to be sure.

My experience with eggs sitting on the counter is they do hatch towards the beginning of the hatch. The ones layed the day incubating starts are at the end of the hatch. So, yes, those few days do seem to make a small difference.

This seems like a lot of quitters. Here are a couple of link to help set you on the right path as you dial in the incubating. Almost to lock down. Exciting time for sure!
