Day 17 On Corntix Hatch When Should They Be Hatching? UPDATE HATCHING!

Quote:
HATCH THEM IN THE UPRIGHT POSITION (LG END UP) THIS WILL PREVENT ENUTERO DROWNINGS IN MOST CASES.

THERE IS A BIT OF A LEARNING CURVE TO EACH INCUBATOR AND EACH INDIVIDUAL SPECES... HANG IN THERE, IT GETS BETTER WITH PRACTICE SO TRY NOT GET DISCOURAGED EASILY. THEY DO NEED TO BE TURNED MORE THAN ONCE A DAY. YOUR NEW AUTO TURNER WILL HELP WITH THAT BUT UNFORTUNATELY IT WILL TOO LATE FOR THIS GO AROUND, 99.5 HUH? IS THAT STILL OR FORCED AIR? AND AT WHAT HIEGHT IS THAT TEMP COMING FROM? IT SHOULD BE READ AT THE LEVEL OF THE TOP OF THE EGGS. ALSO YOU HAVE BEEN HAND TURNING--- KEEP IN MIND THAT GAMEBIRD EGGS ARE VERY VERY HUMIDITY SENSITIVE... OPENING THE BATOR TO HAND TURN CAUSES HUMIDITY ROLLER COASTER NIGHTMARES... AGAIN YOUR AUTOTURNER WILL HELP WITH THIS IN THE FUTURE. ALSO DO YOU HAVE THE PLUGS OUT OF YOUR BATOR? 112 EGGS NEAR HATCHING SUX ALOT OF OXYGEN OUT OF THE AIR... NOT ENOUGH AIR EXCHANGE LEADS TO LOW OXYGEN AND EMBRYO SUFFOCATION--- HAPPENS ALOT EASIER THAN FOLKS THINK IN MANY CASES. JUST SOME CONSIDERATIONS TO PONDER FOR YOUR NEXT BATCH...

your eggs may pip tonight by my calculation if I didn't add wrong, mine hatched yesterday day 17, were your eggs very small eggs (your own)? if you look at my post, I think the 1 chick grew to big to get out he literally was in a knot in the egg when I broke him free took a very long time to straighten his neck out, I will wait till I see large eggs coming from my quill before I try to hatch them when mine grow up.

i have been hatching lg end up. i am using a cheap lil giants bator it is still air. i have the themometer on top of the eggs for the temp. and i also have the plugs out of the bator. am i doing this right if not i need some help. i know i need a better bator. lol

thanks for all the help already i am just new to this and still learning.

I have a little giant, with still air the temp needs to be slightly higher then 99.5 needs to be like 101-102 at the top of the eggsthe thermometers that come with it aren't always right, neither of mine were right my humidity was between 35-50 to day 14 then I put it up to between 60-70closer to 60 because when the eggs start hatching it jumps, my jumbo browns hatched no problem my lil yellow chicks had difficultyand I don't know if that was me or the chicks 2 out of 3 died after I pulled them out of the eggs 1 was too big for the shell and 1 was too weak to fight his way out, I had 6 that didn't pip at all but that could have been my fault for opening the bator to get the other chicks out and rescue the 3, I had a thermometer at the bottom of the eggs that read about 96-98 and kept the top about 102. I'm a 1st timer and although 2 died I had 13 out of 19 hatch.

well the other 100 eggs are due to hatch on nov 1st so i hope they do better than the 12 eggs did. keeping my fingers crossed on this hatch. i need to find some more eggs for the next hatch now.

UPDATE. This evening i went to check on the bator and i heard some chirps coming from it. When i looked in i didnt see any chicks. There was 2 that pipped. Those two have hatched still waiting on the other 98 eggs to hatch now. Keeping my fingers crossed. I figured out why the other 12 eggs i set earlier in the bator didnt hatch. My humitiy gauge was way off when i went and bought another one and put it in the bator it said the humitiy was 87% i guess i drowned the other 12 earlier but the gauge would read 70% so i am glad i got a new one before this lockdown.

Good luck on your hatch!

I'm not going to pot shot your incubation/hatching skills. Just spin up you brooder/s, because even 50 chicks needs their brooder space!
