DAY 17 ...waiting with baited breath!

hi all
we just candled for the second and last time... we are at day 17 . this is our first time and i'm aware that much can still go wrong.
we have 12 bantam cochins (pekins ) that look exactly right. the other four eggs are large fowl breeds and don't look right. their air sacs are huge taking up half the egg.

i really hope we get some chicks. just off now to turn them , will be bumping up the humidity on day 19.

days 17-19 are the LONGEST days huh?

what has your humidity been so far?

should you not raise your humidity in day 18, thats what i did with mine

hopefully someone will come along and tell me. i was thinking it was the last 3 days for raising it. i was aiming to try the dry hatch idea so humidity has been around 45 and letting it drop before adding more water. it seems to have suited the pekins but not the L/F.

I used to turn them for the one last time on day 18 then I raised the humidity and I waited for them to hatch

some come out on day 19!

they should begin hatching on Tuesday! (that's when i go into lockdown with my eggs though

)
