still nothing from other 4

I want to get those others out of the bator soooooo bad but I refuse to open the bator with so many other pips.

The 2nd jap was on it's back for about 30 minutes and couldn't get up so I had to rescue him and put him in the brooder.

Not done yet.
Those 2 japs and 1 sebright are in the brooder.
Still in the bator are 1 polish, 4 JG's, 2 more japanese that have hatched.

OH, the polish that was 1/2 zipped died. It was moving when I came home about 3:30, and had stopped when I checked again about 4:00. I couldn't see the beak anywhere, so I opened the egg a little at a time and still didn't see a beak until the chick fell out. I guess while turning to zip, it got its beak turned inward under it's body or something and suffocated, I really don't know.

And There's 3 cochins, and 2 japanese with pips

And still 1 each of polish, japanese, and cochin that have done nothing.

And I have 18 being shipped on Wednesday. Actually worked out pretty good....the hatched and the shipped can brood together.

Banty I have 9 left and now a total of 4 that hatched! I have 2 pips from the frizzles in the bator and the rest are silkes...but no pip from them, they are just wiggling around.

So we will see..........

I am excited for you but I am sorry that your 2 babies died.

Just know I am here for you.......

I had a lot die on my first 2 hatches, it really sucked.

I think hatching has to be a art form, because it sure feels like it sucks the energy right out of you.


But its also addicting and fun!

Yes, it really sucks when one dies.
I always anticipate losing a couple, but it still doesn't make it any easier, especially when they zip 1/2 way or more, then quit.
But, if all the rest hatch, I'll still have 18 little chicks, right?
