Day 18 is here! Need hatching vibes. UPDATE Day 22 It died.

countrybum, Thanks for responding. If I had known it was in distress, I would have helped in a minute. Yesterday was only day 21, so I had no reason to suspect it was in trouble. I have no idea why it died. It had pipped the air cell. Humidity was not too high or too low, temp was right... Who knows.

Livin-green, Thank you for you sympathy. I hope your chicks are okay. I guess this just happens sometimes. It sure is a dissapointment, though.
 
I have learned to tell by listening. When my eggs pip I mark them as soon as I notice and then give them 12 hours. After 12 hours if they are not out, I listen and see if the chick is in distress, then I crack the shell on the end, all the way around the egg. If the chick still seems in distress after 4 hours then I help by take the end of the egg off.
I also do opposite a lot of people and keep my water in my incubator full all the time. But I hatch the majority of my eggs.
