Day 18 is tomorrow!!

I accidently grabbed one of the wrong chicks when taking them out of my bator and put one that had just hatched in the brooder. It did fine, but I think they feel better and re-coop better in the bator because the temps are nice and warm and humid. After coming out of an egg, I think they need that time to adjust and regain strength. But, that's just my opinion. Maybe in his case he would be better in a drier area so that things can dry up and fall off.... I dunno......

Miss Prissy!!! Where art thou??????

LUVMYCHICHNKIDS, I know this is off subject, but I just had to tell you, I went to Bebee to the fleamarket there, and theres always tons of poultry for sale. There were several cages of golden campine pairs (that is what your roo was right) anyway, I remember how pretty he was (these were not that pretty) and how special he was to you, and I thought that maybe that breed of chickens were all great little chickens and we could get a pair, and maybe they would be as special to us as he was to you. The man was a real salesman, talking 90 to nothing trying to convince me to buy some. The price was more than I wanted to pay, as his chickens did not apear to be well kept. I told him that "a freind" (didnt wanna sound like a weirdo and say someone from the net) had just lost one, and I was thinking of getting some, in hopes they would be as great as "my friends" He said thats sad, buy yourself a pair, and I will sell you a pair to give to your friend for half price... I said that wouldnt really work, I dont know where she lives. He wanted to know how I didnt know where my "friend" lives. I told him it was somewhere in cyberspace. He then thought me officially loco. BUt to make a long story short, he gave me an egg that one of the hens had laid in the cage and I put it in the bator saturday night. HOpefully ti will hatch. I carried the egg all the way home tucked safely in my bra...lol SORRY FOR THE LONG OFF SUBJECT LETTER.....

Here are some pics of my babies that hatched. A couple are still a bit sticky, but they were ready for food and water, so all are in the brooder and doing well. Here is how our hatch went:

10 out of 10 silkies hatched
1 out of 2 Lav Orp X Black hatched
12 out of 14 of my Araucana eggs hatched
and also have chicklets from a friend's araucana as well.

Huddled together. Whitey's leaner and has a longer neck than Cadbury. I dunno, bantam? The egg was a decent size.
