Hi, I've been trying to hatch my last 2 out of 18 (the rest were quitters. . .

) and I'm on day 19. I went into lockdown last night, but when I took out the egg turner and put the eggs in alone on a pad of paper, the temp went pretty low, so I turned my still-air Little Giant up to readjust the temp. It didn't go up after I waited half an hour. I turned it up. Nope. Turned it up. Finally it went up to about 99 degrees, and I had to leave it be. Plus, I put plenty of water in with a sponge to increase the humidity.

The next morning, I had to wake up early and leave. When I returned by noon, I checked on the incubator and saw the temp at 107 degrees F!!!

The humidity was just hovering at 31%, even though the incubator was full of water. . . So, I had to break the rules and try and cool it down. It finally went down to 100 degrees, but the humidity shot up to 80% when I added a cup of water with a sponge in there. I removed most of the water, and the humidity is lowering now, but. . . Are my chicks done for? Doomed? They have no pipped yet as it is only day 19, but. . . Should I even bother to wait now?

ps - Never again am I going to use a Little Giant. . .

I used two different thermometers to measure - Both read far over 105, I don't think that was the problem. I just want to know if there's a chance little chicks can survive that for how many ever hours the temp was that high. . . Really worried here.

Try to wait it out, you are only on Day 19, there are a lot of post on here about eggs hatching after extreme temp spikes. Good luck.

Well, hopefully it will go well. . . The temp I'm still trying to adjust back to normal which could be another problem for the eggs - Over several hours it has been bouncing around from 100 to 105, soo I hope that too won't hurt them. Trying my hardest to get everything back to normal.

Irony is, my new Hova-Bator just arrived today. . . hah.
