hello, quick question. I have 3 eggs on the 19th day of incubation and just had a query about one of the eggs (probably just over thinking). In the picture I posted below there is a circle at the bottom. Think it’s made of veins but I don’t know. Is this ok? Second question, is it possible for me to have felt one of the ducklings peck/hit the shell when I candeled it? I thought I did but maybe not. Thanks x

That egg looks pretty good.

At this age, if the embryo died, you'd see a dark mass and discolouration. A blood ring is made up of disintegrating blood vessels, and looks nothing like that.

As for your first question--I imagine it's possible. Eggs in the late stages of incubation do wobble a bit in water, I hear. I've never felt/seen it myself, though.

EDT: Mind you, my hands aren't exactly delicate and sensitive.

Ok brilliant thank you. Pretty sure that I’m reading too much into everything I notice since this is my first ever incubation

Wow I’ve never seen that in any eggs I’ve candled. Let’s see if we can get some experienced hatchers here to help you. @WVduckchick @Pyxis
It's very circular--but I have seen a few similar (though admittedly less regular) formations. Unless someone shoved an engagement ring up the duck's butt for a surprise proposal, I'm guessing it's just a slightly odd vein formation.

Haha brilliant. Thank you x
