I have a broody on five eggs. Today is day 19. I candled them, and they are really full and dark. I couldn't tell if there was movement, not having the best eyesight in the world, plus mama hen wasn't happy with me. I didn't hear any peeping. I candled on day 11 and had to toss one dud egg. It got really cold the last couple of days. Could that make a difference in my hatch? This is my first time with a sitting hen or baby chicks. I'd appreciate any advice.

Guess I won't give up quite yet.

Definitly don't give up. I kept reading of day 19 hatches and though mine would never hatch. 13 out of 17 so far and still hatching on day 23. From shipped eggs to boot.

Though some hatch early, & some hatch late.

Eggs are not supposed to peep and start hatching until day 21.

with an average egg, at day 19 there shouldn't be any peeps or pips.
