Day 20 And we have a pip!!!

Presenting Erin Go Brahless. Ameraucana Mix. <3 Shes currently in the incubator napping and fluffing up. It was a LONG process, I learned alot through it, and couldn't be happier. Shes fully out now but I had to share this picture, as it's my favorite so far. She was vaporlocked, but everything fully absorbed. Just needed help getting out.

 
My malepositioned one from my last hatch pipped smack in the middle. After 18 hours of no progress I expanded the pip hole to check position and found that her foot was over her head resting on her beak....lol So a beak with toes on it stared back at me from the pip hole. Yeah. there wa no question that she was not going to get out of there w/o help, so we started our assisted hatch. Hours later once enough shell had been chipped for a decent zip she was able to get that leg back down and reposition and she finally finished the process herself. She is now a healthy pure black 4 month old pullet. lol

Assisting is definitely not for panicky people....lol It should only be done if one is comfortable doing it.

Glad she/he's at least out.
 
She's doing awesome! Moving around the incubator, cheeping away. Im SO SO relieved! And now... for the other 7 to decide if they're going to make an entrance. Thank you SO much for your support through this.

I love this pic! Have you entered the baby fowl picture contest yet?? If not, I would enter this pic. There's just something about it. Great job!
 
I did! LOL I searched for what you said and found it right away! Thank you for mentioning it! I doubt Ill win, there's so many cute flubby butts entered. Mine is fresh out and scraggly. lol But here's hoping. Today while I wait to see if anyone else will make an appearance I have to build an emergency rabbit enclosure. I have 3 and the garage is too cold even with the heat lamp, so in they come. Hopefully i can build something that can be moved into the coop when spring rears its head. Busy busy day!!

Yeah, they are all fuzzy and cute, but there is something more to your pic. My articualtion has foresaken me and I can only say there is a certain je ne sais quoi about the pic. A newness.
