Happy it finally worked out for you! Your temp. drop in lockdown makes me think of the time I had duck eggs that were 5+ days late so I decided to call it quits (and stupidly not candle them prior to doing this) and unplug the incubator. The next morning I woke up to the sound of chirping ducks! I quickly threw them in my other incubator which was still running while I heated up the hatcher. More than half of them hatched... Chicks can make it through a lot!

Not knowing the whole story----I have to ask----You do realize that it takes about a week longer for some Duck eggs over chicken eggs? Some Duck eggs take even longer.

Don't fuss at me----just Making sure!!

So the other eggs haven't hatched yet, and there aren't any signs of hatching... But when I candled them all on day 23 I saw movement in all but one egg.. The chick rolled the eggs around the incubator a bit too, is it possible that they've died even as they're in the process of hatching? Also, the chick hasn't touched the water I put in a little dish in the incubator but I'm afraid that he'll die from dehydration!!!:(

Don't worry. He'll drink when he's ready. Mine did the same thing. I was certain he was he was going to die of thirst. I think it was day two or three that I actually saw him take a drink. Not saying he hadn't before, I don't know, but I hadn't seen him. If you have an open dish do you have marbles or rocks in it to keep him from drowning and did you dip his beak in the water when you put him in the brooder so he knew what it was?

Yes, chicks can annd do die during hatch. One of mine that didn't hatch had pipped internally but never made it to external pip.

Question, If you open the incubator to put a water dish in---why didn't you just take the chick out instead? Chicks can go several days without drinking or eating without a Problem.

Sometimes I will have 50 eggs in one tray-----you talking about rolling eggs, knocking into each other etc and I have had 100% hatch with all that going on So I do not think the eggs rolling has much effect.
