Hi !
I am on day 20 of incubation and I have a few eggs moving...I AM SO EXCITED!
I started with 17 eggs ( Isa Brown, White Leghorn, and Black Cochin )
After 5 days I candled them and found 2 quitters.
Candled again at day 10....I lost 2 more. No movement, and blood spots. I couldnt tell if most of the Isa Browns were even growing due to the darkness of the shells so I didn't toss any of those.
Today, day 20 I noticed when I went in to talk to them ( I know, I'm weird...lol) that a few of the eggs actually moved! (one was an Isa Brown!!!!!)
I have never done this before and am wondering what this means?
Are they going to start hatching today? Probably nobody knows except the chicks! LOL
What can I expect for hatch rate and survival? Any thoughts?
I am trying not to get my hopes up because most of the people I have talked to say they have had bad luck trying to incubate and hatch eggs.
I have kept them as close to 99 degrees as possible and also added sponges and water to the incubator.
I started out with an insulated box with a lightbulb and then moved them to a still air incubator at 15 days. ( Just because I could keep the temp at a steadier degree) also I just bought it..lol
Sorry for all the questions! I'm just so excited I can hardly stand it!
Thanks for comments and suggestions in advance!
Have a great day!

Do you have a hygrometer in there so you know what your humidity is at? I've had the most success with humidity in the low to mid 70s, and it will go up a little when they start pipping. DO NOT OPEN THAT BATOR! Not even when you get your first chick or two, ESPECIALLY if any other eggs have pipped! It will dry the membranes out and shrink wrap the babies, and then they will not be likely to be able to hatch. Just sit back and watch! And when you need to drag yourself away from the bator, because you've fogged up the window from the outside, come back here, and do some reading on this section!
