Last night I saw that two of my chicks had pipped and I woke up this morning to a new barred rock and a new Easter egger chick! The third egg so far shows no signs of hatching. Last candle, I was skeptical, because it didn't look like it was developing like the other two, but I have it a chance. I feel so lucky because this was my first hatch and I wasn't expecting much. I will post pictures of the babies in a bit! :)

I took them out of the incubator because they weren't drying off.
I have a baby Easter egger and a baby barred rock. I was expecting all th be Easter Eggers, and I was really surprised to see the barred rock come out of a green egg. I guess my barred rock roo has been a little sneaky behind the Easter egger roo's back..

They are now sleeping soundly in their brooder. It's been a tiring day so far!

Oh my gosh I just went to clean out the battle for the next round. I didn't think the last egg was hatching because it hasn't shown any signs of life. I lifted it up to my ear and I heard a peep!!! I put it back in the bator and kept it on. Hopefully this little guy makes it too :/ I didn't think he was hatching but I think he may be taking his time.

The third baby hatched on time this morning! This is right before I put it in the brooder to dry off and be with its hatch mates :)

Congratulations on a successful hatch!

I've noticed that my hens manage to hatch 'em faster than I can do it with the incubator. I've always heard "21 days for a chicken egg," but I've learned to start looking for chicks about day 19 - even earlier for my bantams and Seramas.

3 for 3 - can't beat that, can you! Enjoy those little fuzzy cheepy things . . . . hmmm, I have a hen that's acting broody . . . . Bunny! NO! No hatching!!

Thank you! I am so excited for my bantams to lay so I can hatch more of them too :D I've only had one hen go broody, and if it weren't in the start of winter I would've let her. They seem to wait until the most imperfect times sometimes. :)
