Shadrach's Ex Battery and Rescued chickens thread.

If you live long enough, you experience a few things:

Finding out your parents/elders were right, dangit! about a lot of things;
Passing those lessons to another generation, who may or may not take those lessons to heart;
Having a lot of cool/weird/wonderful experiences;
Being able to do cool/weird/wonderful things with the greatest machine you will ever know, ie, your body;
Not being able to do some of those things any more;
And, hardest of all, losing people who have taken up residence in your heart.

Those rooms in your heart are not empty if they're filled with memories.

Hugs to anyone whose steps are echoing in those rooms right now.
:hugs:hugs:hugs:hugs
So beautifully written!!!

In just under a year, my dad died, my youngest son died, and now my mom has passed last week, if it wasn't for the chickens, turkeys and dogs, counting on me to sustain them, I don't think I would get out of bed any more. They show me that despite all the sorrow, there is still joy in the simple things.
Bless you.
:hugs

I cant write better words of comfort than the previous posters, therefore I keep it simple. To all who are in a difficult time bc of losses, health, or whatever you have been gone through: :hugs :hugs :hugs
Amen

Now we need to see one of those.
This is still one of the more flattering ones (for both of us)

This ^

I hope things get better soon or the pain becomes easier to live with (delete as applicable) for all of you.

Canceling my mother’s cable TV and phone, neither of which she used once she started trying to call me from the TV remote control, and trying to change channels with the phone - just kill me now, please:

There are plenty of threads where one can write about what a difficult life one is having. Please don't do it on this thread. You may mourn the loss of your chickens here if it helps.
Lets at least be honest, I doubt from what I've read on this and other threads any of us would know a hard life if we tripped over it. I and from what I can tell, you/we/I, are having a wonderful life; we have chickens. Remember this!

A message for the newer contributors to this thread; you owe tax! At the beginning of this thread I introduced a tax system. It works like this. If you post here, especially if you post off topic content, you pay tax in the form of a/some and for some of you now, lots of pictures of your chickens. Most contributors here abide by this rule. It helps to keep the thread on topic and given how many of you write how much you enjoy the thread it's worth bearing in mind that the tax system helps make the thread what it is.

I joined BYC to read and write about chickens. This is where on the internet I get away from the problems I have in my life, and I do have them, just like the rest of you.

I'm very sorry for my contribution to off topic whining. I'll go get new chicken pictures in the morning and do a better job of staying on chicken topics.
:oops:
