Is she a first time mother? Because with two crushed now I suspect she is. This isn't her trying to help them, she's crushing them, hopefully accidentally but maybe on purpose - some hens do that.

Actually, no. Second time. The 1st time was back in 2015, she hatched six chicks within a span of 5 days. The first one hatching on day 22. :o

I now have 4 chicks. 2 Blacks and 2 Buff chicks. The first one is quite a bit weaker than the others, but we'll work on that. ;)

Glad to hear :) Hopefully she stops crushing them, lol!
 
I'm sorry to hear the little guy didn't make it! If the mama continuously crushes eggs, I wouldn't let her sit on eggs anymore. I've had a hen before who would sit on eggs and then ditch them right when they were near hatching time and they would die, so she's not allowed to sit anymore because she always does it. Sometimes hens aren't cut out for sitting, but I hope your hen quits the behavior
