Day 21 1st hatch !!!! Float test HELP !!!

I'm trying a new room this time around too, and I'm getting closer. I think technically my day 21 just ended around 7:00 tonight, so I'm already on day 22 and just have a couple of pips. I've never actually had a chick hatch on day 21  Maybe someday!

I'm trying to hatch out my first Silver Laced Wyandottes. I had a heck of a time finding somebody with high quality birds that still had eggs to ship this time of year, so I was so sad to see so many broken when they arrived. I would like to start a flock of SLW so I have a lot riding on these 5 little eggs!

What is everybody else hatching?? How many hatches do you have under your belt?
If you set on a Tuesday at 8pm day 21 would start 3 weeks later on Tuesday at 8pm. You may just be on day 21 now :)

I sure hope they all hatch, and 4 are hens and only 1 is a roo (and a perfect roo that is healthy and never dies  )

Right now I have bantam Ameraucanas hatching. I do have 8 eggs in there. I went up to take a picture of the one chick. It's a splash. The second one is hatching now, and I have 2 that are pipped (so 2 pipped, 1 zipping and 1 hatched). These are the first of my Bantam Ameraucanas that have ever been fertile. My rooster is not forceful, so he doesn't get much tail :p

Here's the first one :)

Congratulations! I've been having trouble with fertility with my Wyandottes as well. I think my four roosters are all keeping each other away from the ladies. Two are supposed to be going into the pot, but I have yet to get my act together enough to make that happen.

I'm pretty sure I set my eggs on Monday night in the evening. But I wouldn't be my life on it.

I should definitely write it down next time!

This is exactly what I'm hoping for. And that they're all perfect specimens!

I haven't heard a lot about bantam Ameraucanas. Are they unusual or am I not paying attention? I only breed Wyandottes, so sometimes I don't have a great sense of other breeds.

Thank you!

Once you forget once to write it down, you won't forget again! I try to set on Sundays now. However, I keep reminders in my phone so I know when to properly lock down. Let me know how your eggs make out!

Have you heard of Ameraucanas? I just keep them in the bantam form. I can get just as much per bird when I go to sell them, and they are less to feed, and you can fit more into a space than with standards. Though if I could get some standards, I would!

Also they lay blue eggs :)

I have just two silver laced wyandottes for eye candy. Something about the silver laced is just stunning!

Beautiful photos. Yes, I'm familiar with Ameraucanas, I just haven't often seen people talking about their bantam form. Tiny blue eggs sound adorable!

Thank you! They weigh a whopping pound

So easy to keep and handle. They are extremely docile! My rooster is too docile. I need him to grow some and mate those hens! :p

You're still early on day 21, so I definitely wouldn't be concerned at all. Watch out, chickens can be addicting! I find that my chicks always wait for me to go to bed to hatch. I feel like they rarely hatch for me while I'm watching them.

I know it's early, but I'm pooped. I think I'm going to call it a night in hopes of waking up to 5 chicks! I'll check in tomorrow morning to see how everybody is doing!
