40 would def be a great hatch think the most I've hatched at once was maybe 20.

lol i am so hoping just not sure wher ei am going to put them all lol i know i will have 2 brooders both in the garage so ther is no drafts but 1 in a 20 gallon fish tank and the other in a wire cage like you put rats or bunnies in, the the fish tank will be fo rmy silkies and bantams while th eother for the bigger chicks but i will only keep a few as soon as they hatch the ones i dont want are goign strait on craigslist lol i need ot make money back that i payed for the bator and accesories and to pay the inlaws for electricity lol

You sound like me I've got a homemaid brooder and a rabbit cage i use in our garage. then once they start gettin there feathers I move them out in a pen with a heat lamp...Ive got them everywhere...right now my brooders are empty put I've got 10 small pens with pairs trios and quads. then I've got to pretty good size runs one with around 20 that are 4-6 months old then the other run has around 40 that are 3-4 months old...

well you see the thing is with my i live right smack dab in the city and am not suppose to have this many chickens loli only have 3 chickens right now 1 laying hen 1 13 week old rir rooster which i need ot get rid of beforeit crows so i dont get a citation and 1 br 12 weeks not 100% sure of sex yet but i believe it is a sex link not sure tho could just be a mutt but city ordinace says no loud anumals so i have to keep these chicks hidden i am only going to try to keep 5 at the max lol but i am going to sell them the next day after they hatch so i dont have to deal with them lol i wish i could have it like you have it but i am only 21 yrs old living at the inlaws place os i will see what happens

ha Ha well I'm not much older And me and my husbands still at my parents...Its a farm though so guess I can have that many.. but we've decided, well I've decided to build or put a house on the land here to many critters to move...LOL

lol i got no land here my chickens are on the sid eof the house between the house a fence they have a good area pleanty of running space but no more room especially for 40 more lol haha your lucky me my wife and my 2 yr old daughter has to share 1 bedroom in the inlaws house

Candled tonight My lone Brown/red OEGB wasn't fertile...

One of the 8 eggs of the OEGB that I got from the swap isn't any good... pretty good to be shipped eggs she did a really good job

Then I had to toss my lone Barred rock it was a weird shape and I think it froze

.... but all the rest are doing good...

1 Self blue egg
4 Japanese BTW/Brown leghorn bantams
7 OEGB Spangle

I went from 27 to 19... Most I think the cold got to them.. Hens laid them in 20-5 degree weather.. So not too bad...

not to bad its better then that draded 0 or having no eggs at all well good luck with them i am up to 20 chicks now but i believed i killed the rest of the eggs not sure tho but i will keep you posted good luck

20 still a good number... I hope they do good for ya
