Are you going to let her take care of the chicks? Or put them in a brooder?
I have eggs under Dot, my speckled Sussex right now, and I'm trying to figure out what I will do.
I am on my way home from work out of town. Longest four hour drive ever. I had to leave them but she probably did fine. Will up date as soon as I get home and check on them.
The hen was already broody when Ellie emailed me and asked if I could quickly send her a half dozen fertile eggs-that's why I called them Emergency Eggs, LOL. Worked out great!
Yay, I am home and have at least two more chicks but she won't let me look at them. Every time I pick her up a chick falls out of her wing. There is one partially out and I have asked Cyn if I should "help" or leave her alone. One did not make it
I will try to get another look in a minute. Lot of cheeping going on....
I think you may just need to let nature take its course, Ellie. Too bad about that little one, but it was just too weak for some reason, apparently. I've never helped chicks out under a broody, but then, I've only had one broody before, too.
