Similar to candling, turn off all the lights and shut curtains from daylight in the room where your incubator is so that it’s completely dark then shine a very bright light, such as a flashlight or cell phone light on them through the plastic to check and see if there’s movement in the blunt part of the egg where the air cell should be. If you see any movement then that’s a good sign

Not really because you’re not actually taking them out of the incubator to candle them you’d just be shining a light through the lid to check for movement

It doesn’t have to but you might need to move the light around a bit to find the right angle for viewing and even if you just see the eggs rocking that is still a good sign that they’re alive. If you listen closely you should be able to hear faint peeping sounds, this is also a good sign that they have internally pipped.

Yes, sometimes it takes awhile for baby chicks to work up enough energy to be able to pip, zip and push themselves out
