day 21...nothing....Late on day 22, i hear loud cheeping but no peeping yet, i should leave them al

Were these egg purchased and sent through the mail (oops; I reread your original posting and yes, that's the case).

I've had that happen with Mille Fleur eggs sent through the mail; some hatched but others appeared to have died within a very short period prior to hatching (very heartbreaking; it would likely be less painful if they had not progressed so far in their development).

I've never had that happen with my own bantam eggs; while some have been infertile, all those that were not have gone on to hatch. I use both Brinsea and Lyon Turn-X incubators but have looked into the Brower incubators.

Is there any way you could try a batch of eggs from someone local (i.e., not involving having eggs shipped through the postal service)?

I have 48 egg from my hen house, as soon as i get the temp regulated again, i'm loading them up. I know my fertility rate could be low, because my rooster to hen ratio is 1:25, he's a Black Cooper Maran so I hope he's been making the rounds.

I have purchased many eggs from e-bay, there are lots to choose from. Tips that have worked for me and i'll share for bidding on eggs:
1) i sort by "distance: nearest first" i don't want to order eggs that will be shipped/mailed long distances that might require air service, I think this helps reduce damage from sloppy handlers and high altitudes. I don't know how many miles is too many, but it keeps me from getting interested in eggs that are 1,500 miles away and consider the ones that are 150 miles, might find someone that is local and that i can pick up and avoid sloppy handling all together. (haven't found anyone close but still hoping

)
2) next i sort by time left in the auction. and consider items that the auction is ending soon. if the price is still at a level or less of what i want to spend then i "add to my watch list" to wait to bid at the last second.
3) if i find an item i like and think i'll bid on but has days left on the auction i add them to the watch list.
4) when to bid. I think if you start bidding early you help run the price up and above where you are willing to go. the seller and ebay thank you. i wait till the last few seconds to entery my bid. ebay has auto bidding where if the current price is $5.00 and i am willing to go as high as $12.00 then i don't just bid $6 or i risk getting out bid by their auto bidding. the auto bidding will enter my bid to $.50 higher than the current bid, if the other bidder is on auto bid with say a max of $10, it auto bids both of us to where i am now the highest bidder at $10.50. if i am willing to go as high as $12* then i enter $12 and hit the bid now button with 20 seconds left in the auction and then confirm bid at 10 seconds left. you leave no time for the other bidder to respond if they haven;t already set their maximum bid at $12 or higher. when you bid early you are tipping your hand to the other bidders or would be bidders that are also watching. other bidders don't know you are watching the item until you start bidding. i think when you bid early and gets too high, then you have the tendency to bid higher than you set in your mind that you would go. i also have a little meaness in me that gets a little satisfaction out of stalking an item and swoop in like a falcon and snatch up an item with mere seconds left and win. and the other bidder might be watching and then blinked at the last 5 seconds only to see that they lost or at least paid more than they thought they were going to pay.

*note: don't forget to check shipping costs for that item so you've figured that in when determining your total purchase costs.
