Day 21 today. Started pipping yesterday. Need advice please.

:D happy dance!!!! For my first time incubating I have had 6 hatch I had to help one he was to big to move around n the egg. So I did a zip around not breaking any of the membrain and by this morning he made it out!! Along with two more. I have 5 more that have pipped as well. All look healthy too!!! Temp is 99' and humidity is holding at 55% until one hatches then it jumps to about 65%. Pulled 3 this morning and put them in the brooder. Will start them on food n water tonight.

I don't think you can tell if it's shrink-wrapped unless you pick the shell away. The chick won't be able to turn in the shell to zip, but it's impossible to know if a chick isn't zipping because it hasn't absorbed the blood and yolk sac yet or because the membrane is too dry. And I agree with the other byc'er--don't open the incubator until the hatching is done!

Edited after I noticed the second page:

Congrats on the chicks! For future reference, they can go 3 days in the incubator before they need food and water. I'd be careful about opening the incubator anymore if you still have some more eggs to go. Hope they all make it!
