Day 21, ulcer, and Day 22?

I'd be wary of candling over and over at the end due to letting out humidity every time.

Most of the time it was between 50-70%, but that was according to my coil type measurer. I have no idea how accurate it was, but there was almost always condensation on the window. I candled them again and one is in the air sac, the other isn't moving much. I think I may try to help them.

So I started it, and then I stopped it when I saw the blood. The membrane is very opaque, like paper. Can I assume it was dried out. The chick is still moving and cheeping, but I put it back in the incubator, trying to follow the directions.

I'll wait an hour before I try again.
What do you guys think?

These hatching threads make me so nervous!! They are the first ones I read...I hurry and get to the end so I can see how many fuzzbutts everyone got.....

My new incubator is sitting on my kitchen table, all set to be revved up for the first victims, er, I mean chickies!!

Does anyone plan their hatches for the weekend so you dont have to miss them by being at work? If I were to do this, which Id never be that way (ha!!!), what day would I start the incubation period. Not that Id do this....

Personally.. I think you are doing the right thing. Peel a bit, stop if you see blood and wait.

I don't have much experience either, but in my last batch, one little guy had pipped the aircell, but not the egg. I heard her cheeping and scratching. 12hrs later she was dead.. I am still heartsick knowing I could have saved her if I had pipped the egg myself. I pulled her out of the egg, and she was perfect, but was breech (wonky aircell was down the side of the egg, and that's where she was trying to make a her hole.)

Wrap a papertowel ...dampened with warm water... (you have lost alot of humidity) around the egg... don't cover her beak... put it back in the bator and leave it alone! With that vein so thick at the big end it probably hasn't absorbed the yolk all of the way.
As long as she can breathe... she should be ok... I would guess by the vein she needs another 6 hours... don't rush her.

I would chip the shell but NOT the membrane. Keep it moist. The chick can do the membrane on it's own. I think your hatch is just a little late. I am telling you this because the last egg I did I got into blood and it bled to death. Don't want you to experience this.

Keep us updated! This is almost as bad as going through it at home!... NO It's worse.
