If it were me I'd quickly candle and look for moveme. If they were small then they could need a few more days.

At this stage of incubation all they need is time and oxygen, not floating in water.
All you can do now is be patient and hope for the best.




All chicks have kind of curly toes right after hatching, even more so after an assisted hatch.
The toes usually straighten out within a few hours given they have mesh or terry cloth to walk on.

Put the chick straight onto terry cloth, They were very curly, and so I'm hoping that they'll straighten out. Should I take off the tape boots then?

You might give it a try and see if they straighten out until tomorrow. If not you can easily tape them again. But I would then cut the front edges quite close to permit easier walking.

Taken them off, and his feet seem to be normal now, thank you!

Ahaha, yes very attentive He is a Hungarian Vizsla (like a ginger, shorter haired, taller, skinny chocolate lab, also as food and bird obsessed!). Training him to be gentle with the chicks, he's very good, but he just points at them all day

He's a really good boy, although he wants to he know he can't. So he's always there watching but he knows that he has to be half a meter away

I'm so sorry you're going through the same thing. One of my chicks hatched, but I'm thinking the reason for his difficulty is malposition within the egg. And therefore I'm very worried the rest of the eggs are malpositioned as well, do I go in now and try to help them? Don't want him to be a lone chick!

None hatched at the end of Day 25, so found some day old chicks and swapped them for the eggs. Hen took to the chicks like a duck to water.

That's super sweet!!! What a good momma hen! I've been asking around and quite a lot of people have been having some really bad hatch rates this spring. Glad you managed to find some babies, what breeds did you pick?

2 X Olive Egger
2 X Norfolk Grey

We currently have brown, light brown, speckled brown, blue eggs and these will also add white and green to the mix. Wonder what other colour eggs you can get. Could we have a box of rainbow eggs?
