day 22 chicken eggs

Danny, I would wait at least a couple days more. With the temps that low it will delay hatching.
You say the egg is dark with an air cell. Sounds about right for a chick in there.

When you candled it was the air cell large?

Are you running a still air bator or one with a fan/air? Thats also makes a difference on temps.

I believe and please someone correct me if I am wrong, but a still air one should be 100 -101

One with air should be 99.5
What is your humidity?

Good luck on your hatch.

Hi

The incubator has a fan in it, there is just a tray in bottom to put water in. Bought it brand new! There was no where i could measure humidity- its a semi automatic whatever that means! When i candled the air cell did seem large!!

Fingers Crossed!

Danny, I have been having a little issue with humidity measurement. I have a Genesis 1500 which has a thermometer, but no way to measure humidity. Someone suggested I should get a hygrometer. It tells you what the humidity is. You can buy them at pet store or Wal-mart.

The air cell being large is a very good sign!

Watch when you first get a pip then I would add water to that tray so that it is covering the whole bottom. Hopefully it should give you good humidity for them to hatch.
Its hard just winging it without something to measure it, but it can be done.
Try keeping your temps 99.5 if you can.

If you have any other problems, start another thread and you would get more help. Many here seem to be very willing to help.

Sry to OP for interupting your thread.
Congrats on your new fuzzy butts!

Hello. I hope you don't me leaping into your thread but you all sound like you have sooo much more experience at whole chicken, egg, chicken thing than me. I have some late arrivals too. We have a lovely big broody hen that has hatched eggs successfully for us before but we are on day 23 for three bantam eggs and two ...big chicken eggs. Not sure whats in there. Anyway, our weather has been absolutely awful for about a fortnight, maybe longer. It is supposed to be summer but it has rained and rained and rained and.....you get the picture

Do you think that this might have an effect on the hatching time. Do you think it's too long for the bantam eggs? I managed to candle two eggs early on and they were definately fertile. Has anyone else had really late hatches? I don't know what to do
