Just gave up on my 4 coturnix eggs in the bator at day 22 cracked them open and found no development at all.... I have 6 more that are at day 18 today and another 16 that go on lockdown this friday..... what could the problem be?? I know there is a male in the cage....

I havent candled any of the eggs because i havent gotten a light for it yet..... i guess thats my next purchase! I have 3 thermometers and 2 hygrometers. 99.5 on 2 thermometers the control unit thermometer is reading lower than that to get them to 99.5 both hygrometers are at 45%

All 4 eggs had a good air pocket but no development i am guessing they did get fertilized but i dont know how thats possible...

Air pocket exists on every egg, fertile or not. And it will grow over time, no matter what.

Fertility can be an issue this time of year. Definitely need a good little flashlight - 250 lumens or higher. Quail eggs are hard to candle, depending on how many spots they have. But mass can usually at least be seen in them.

I am guessing they werent fertile as they were the first eggs laid! 1 out of the 6 so far that are at day 18 today hatched!!! hoping the others come soon too.

ahhh makes sense! 2 out of the second batch of 6 hatched ones legs seem to be splayed now to look into that.....
