I've had a bit of a wonky hatch this time around :/ they started hatching at day 19, and the last one was nearly 24 hours ago. i had to assist 2 chicks who were malpositioned, pipping outside the air cell and getting stuck. they definitely needed it. one was so ready, it was the easiest, most best case scenario assist ever. easy as peeling a hard boiled egg (but i promise i took it slow and careful.. its only in hindsight i saw how easy it was! lol!) there were 2 more that pipped the wrong side of the egg who died before zipping. one in particular i kept looking at thinking, "you're going to need some help but i'm going to give you some time first" then i finally decided it was time.. too late! Kicking myself for that. I candled the rest of the unpipped eggs and all but 1 were dead, with no internal pipping.

So now I have one lonely egg waiting to hatch, nearly 24 hours since the last one! I took a candling video. i dont think i see any internal pip but i'm not experienced in looking for those. I see movement, that you can see in the video. What am I seeing? it kinda looks like "breathing" but wouldn't breathing require an internal pip? I've not heard peeping, and i've tapped and listened, and peeped at it. Here's the vid: https://photos.app.goo.gl/ODkt3IYbnOBu4R9L2 its hard for me to be sure what i'm seeing. i dont think i see any beak shadows in there. is this one likely malpositioned too?

No, but may be (dis) died in shell. Put it back in and wait. May be a late hatcher!
But I can see movement when candling did you see the video? So must be alive. It seems bizarre to be so late when the rest were early. But it's a still air incubator... I did try and move the eggs around to different sections regularly bit maybe this egg spent more time in cooler sections while others got more heat.

Why so many malpositions though? What causes that? I had several different breeds and they were equally affected. None were shipped. I turned 3x/day. All eggs came from the same farm. This is my 3rd hatch. My best hatch rate was my 1st hatch.

Yes, I saw the video, I didn't see any movement. Usually malpositioning is caused by the lack of turning of the eggs or the egg being turned to the same position each time it's turn.

If I made a tiny hole in the air cell to peek in on it, would that hurt it if no internal pip yet? I see movement that id describe as looking like the rise and fall of a chest from breathing... I guess it's hard to see in the video since it's shaky. I wrote x and o on opposite sides of the egg and flipped them over between the 2 sides manually 3x a day like always...

I don't think it is going to hatch. It's been 48hrs since the last one? You might give it anpther 12hrs, if by then it hasn't at least pipped, it's not going too! Sometimes it happens this way, they make all the way and then die just before pipping. It's tough and agonizing to go through it but sometimes that's the way it goes.
Poking a hole in the shell to look in won't really tell you anything. The membrane isn't transparent, so you won't see anything, you may see the membrane move of it's still alive but if it does pip, then you have just compromised it's survivability. Most likely it will become shrink wrapped.
