As long as they have not externally pipped, you are ok to candle, so long as it doesn't take too long. But try not to turn the egg from it's current position.

I'm hoping someone can help me, today I went to candle my eggs I have five remaining eggs that need to be hatched and found my 2 brooding hens, which has already hatched five chicks since Sunday last night must have been the last one that hatched. But found both hands and chicks in the yard and my other eggs in the nest getting cold. I heard chirping coming from the one egg that should have had yesterday it startled me and the egg dropped , the shell broke or fractured butnot the membrane is still intact and I still heard the chick chirping inside. I brought all the eggs inside, candle them, they're all still alive so I set up a makeshift incubator with a heating pad and bed pads to keep the eggs warm. Should I help that chicken out of the egg since the shell is broken but the membrane is not or should I let it come out on its own I know it still alive it chirped? Any advice would be helpful.
