Day 23 - 3 chicks have opened their shells, haven't come out

Quote:
GIve it a bit of time. I had One that was born/hatched with funny feet like that. but the next day I came out and it was fine. I think sometimes they can get a bit too big for their shell and can't get leverage to get out. I suppose that is a bad thing and nature takes care of the cull process. But its SO hard not to help when you KNOW they are struggling. Isn'it it?!

Yes, Courtney, it is very hard! I want to help them and love them...

The weak chick is looking better and stronger. She seems to be eating and drinking well. Yippee!

The other chick... well, her feet haven't straightened out and I don't think that they will. She looks healthy and happy... but staggers around walking on the side of her feet. I don't know what to do with her...

I followed the directions and made little "snowshoe" splints for my chick's feet. I changed them after 24 hours because the bandaids were loosening and getting all skanky... and now, 48 hours later: perfect feet!
