So I got a still air incubator and set it with country eggs. I candled and insured they where fertile. No pips by day 22 so I cracked open the end of an egg to see if all was ok. The membrane was still intact and I saw movement. I put the egg back in the incubator and today I have a black chick. No other eggs have piped. I did the same thing today and there was a almost formed chick but it had a marble sized egg yoke still attached. It was alive, but it died due to my cracking the egg and removing it. I have 30 more eggs and I'm using a still air incubator. It's set at 100.1. That is what the instructions said to set it at. Since it's day 23 and the last chick had such an egg yoke to absorb is it possible the other eggs will hatch if I give them 3 more days?

Give them until at least day 25. If your temp is a little low they can take longer. Perhaps your thermometer reads a degree or so higher than the actual temp?

I use a still air and I keep it between 99-100, using 3 different types of thermometers at slightly different heights. Rotate your eggs so they aren't always in the same spot. Make sure you have good humidity the last 3 days- that's about it! I am a beginner- but had 2 100% hatches, and the last was 18 of 20.
Don't give up on the little ones. We learn as we go- your next hatch will be even better, I bet.

Now you need to figure out if the thermometers are right. That has a lot do with why different people have good luck at different temperatures with the same incubators. It really doesn't matter after you figure out what yours need to read.
