Day 23, no internal or external pips but Chicks FOR SURE alive....

Oh no!

I am having kind of the same problems here.
Im on day 24.
Chick seems to have pipped a bit. Tiny egg shell crack. But not the membrane. Its still white.

I did hear peeping on the 22 and 23 day but not anymore. I wonder why.

I want the chicky to come out quick!

:hugsHopefully your next hatch will be more successful. It can be learning curve figuring out the right settings to have your incubator at for your unique climate, and sometimes it can come down to how well the hens that laid the eggs were fed - if there nutrition was poor their resulting chicks can be weak and unhealthy.

Yes - hopefully :) I have now calibrated the improved incubator. I have set a new batch of eggs. About 18 - I didn't even count them. I went knocking on random farm doors and found this guy (again doesn't speak english) but managed to get across what I wanted. So he gave me a bunch of eggs which I sort of understand were laid today... I was trying to ask him if the eggs were definitely fertile so he takes me to his back yard, and to my absolute shock and dismay, literally DRAGS a chicken off her nest (she squawked and kicked and fought) and removes the warm eggs she was incubating from under her, shoves them in a bag and gives them to me and then tells me "rapido! rapido! incubadora or they die!" omg. I had to race home on my BICYLE and put these things in the incubator as fast as I could. One cracked and broke and smeared all over my tshirt (as I had them tucked under my shirt to keep them warm) and thankfully after looking at the remains its clear the eggs are only about day 2 or 3 at the most, but jeese. I did not expect him to rip the poor bird of a batch of eggs and give them to me in addition to the ones he gave me which were laid that day. I have marked the 5 kidnapped eggs differently to the freshly laid batch but I really don't know what to expect. There were a bunch of roosters running around so I have no doubt the eggs are fertile, but they are SMALL. Like really little. Half the size of normal shop bought chicken eggs. The mother chicken looked like a normal sized hen to me, so I don't know why her eggs would be so small... My mum saw them and actually said are you sure they aren't pigeon eggs?? So... am I to expect a lower hatch rate because the eggs are so little? Any thoughts?
