Out in the nest box our broody is still sitting on the eggs. It's day 22 for everyone in this clutch so I don't know what's up with that. Maybe it's because daddy's an Orpington so they're all on the bigger side genetically? One of the eggs in the nest box has an external pip and one has an internal pip (I know 'cause I could hear her peeping!)
No pip or peeps yet from the cracked egg. I took her out earlier this morning, candled quickly, put a new coat of polysporin on the cracks, and put her into a small bowl. I put a warm, damp paper towel on the bottom of the bowl and some saran wrap over it, then poked a few holes in the saran. Then I put the whole thing back in the incubator. My theory there is that if she's alive, this will give her more humidity than the rest of the incubator. She's not sitting on the towel, it's just rolled up along the inside edge of the bottom of the bowl.
Keepin' my fingers crossed!
